Google vs Apple

Do you ever realize that it seems like everything that is put out these days having to do with computers or internet or really anything technology based seems to be thanks to Google or Apple?

Are there any other companies out there that are still able to survive with this complete and utter domination?  So much for the little man trying to make a buck.  America is no longer a land of opportunity, its either your with the big guys or against them and at this point you probably don’t want to be against them.

It’s gotten so bad that they are now facing off against each other.  Google’s Android vs Apple’s iPhone is at the center of the controversy but I get the feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg.  A much more detailed and insightful take on this can be found in this New York Times article here.

The way I view this is that it is a much needed competition.  Let’s say Apple has their way and defeats Google and sues them till the cows come home.  Then what?  Apple is the mega-company producing every relevant piece of technology and you think they will still be great?  Without some competition there will be no reason improve on what they have already mastered.  They need to use this competition as incentive to keep on growing and advancing in what they do best and that is push out newer, more modern technology to the masses before any one else even dreams it is possible.  Now that’s not to say Google has not done their fare share of advancement in the world of technology but Apple has been ahead of the game.

They seem to be at the start of a long war or who knows maybe they are in the middle, it just is more publicized these days, but this is one war that won’t be soon to end.  I hope it continues for the next 50 years so I can enjoy the plethora of technology and advancements that will be around in my lifetime.

Lets take a quick look at the ridiculous amount of accomplishments thus far:

Google:

  • Android
  • Chrome
  • Gmail
  • Buzz
  • Picasa
  • GChat
  • Earth
  • SketchUp
  • Talk
  • Gears
  • Buzz
  • Calendar
  • News
  • Reader
  • Latitude
  • Maps
  • Sync
  • Wave

Apple:

  • Macs (The whole series can go here to save time and space)
  • iPad
  • iTouch
  • iPod
  • iPhone
  • Apple TV
  • Mac OS
  • iTunes

So as you can see more is not always better but it is enough to bring some serious competition.  Stayed tuned for the future as I am sure it will be expensive yet promising.

Here are my fave 5 that’s just not right videos from YouTube I have seen throughout the past week:

(They might not work on the mobile site version so you’re best off viewing from the computer)

Who doesn’t love the song Born To Be Wild?  And for those of you that don’t, who doesn’t love seeing a really large person riding a Moped? And for those that enjoy both well you are in luck!

Hmm… I own a Wii and I own this game, I wonder if I taped myself playing if I would look the same way.  I guess it wouldn’t matter since it is played in the privacy of my own home, not national television!

For parenting tips for wise ass children who are infatuated with bacon and anti black food stealing women don’t be like these parents!

The reason why kids grow up to be serial killers!

Soo they can’t properly handle a taser but no problem to hand them guns, great job!

Sad But True

After this clip from his show aired (http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/video/howard-stern-rips-gabourey-sidibe-10059660), Howard Stern has been getting some shit in the press due to his comments about the whale from Precious, Gabourey Sidibe.  I mean was he saying anything that 90% of America wasn’t thinking when they saw her on the Oscars.  It obviously looked like they found the biggest corner to stick her and do you really think she was able to fit on one chair, come on people, common sense.

Dude, you can't even see the Oscar picture behind her!

Howard Stern may be out there at times and my offend people on the regular, heck, I am not even a fan of his, but I do agree with him from time to time and this is one of those times.  I also think that since Robin agrees with him then its okay because she’s black and black people can say whatever they want about their own and get away with it, bottom line!

Moving on, apparently the paparazzi have found the key to becoming a professional UFC fighter.

Roaaaar

So apparently there are two key ingredients to the UFC workout.  1)Be competely naked and 2)Workout with a completely naked gorgeous blond.

That’s It! If you don’t believe me then click the link below and see for yourself.

Thank you Jimmy Kimmel for bringing this to the forefront, I will begin my routine tomorrow.

Weighty Misconceptions

As all who have been on diets know it is not as easy as first planned.  I have tried and failed many of times as do most people who attempt diets.  It is a strange science and when it works it really works but when it doesn’t it is oh so frustrating.  If it was only simpler.  Well I have done some research and found some useful tidbits that should help ease things in the long or short run.

Some of these articles should really make your eyes open and hopefully help you break that barrier you are stuck behind.

*Sidenote:  Apparently there is this misconception that if you are overweight it is better to wear spandex everyday as it might make you appear slimmer.  Well that could not be further from the truth.  You make it uncomfortable for those around you and quite embarrassing.  I can see way more then I need to and Jello and Cottage Cheese become that much less appealing each and every time.  It is a stretch (hehe) at the gym but in public should just be illegal!

Now to get serious:

1) 10 Diet Foods That Are Making You Fat

2) The 3 Step Weight Loss Diet

3) Video Games can help you lose weight. Get a Wii and Wii Fit Plus as well as Wii Biggest Loser.  Some may not take these work outs seriously but they do work if followed along with a healthy diet.  Also watching Biggest Loser shows lots of interesting workout tips as well as nutritional tips.

4) Stay away from weight loss or diet pills.  If you look carefully none are FDA approved and the quick weight loss is more often due to water weight loss in the first few days more then anything else.  They are also usually filled with caffeine and if any other caffeine is consumed throughout the day then you are putting yourself in a risky situation.

5) Bookmark Bodybuilding.com and check it regularly.  As much as you think you may know, there is always more to learn and in this area there is always new science and information being learned to help individuals reach their specific goals in a safer manner.  They offer many useful products but more importantly have a few huge sections devoted to dieting and work out tips between their Forums, BodySpace and SuperSite.  I highly recommend spending a lot of time at the SuperSite as they are always adding new routines and articles written by anyone from the average joe looking to add some years to their life all the way to the vein popping meat head looking to hit his next milestone.  Another great feature of this site is that they show videos of exercises for those who are unsure of what to do based on words which is very helpful to newbies as well as the vets.
